Event Details
This one-day seminar focuses on branding, specialization, other events, add-on sales, apprenticeships, hiring and firing, media relations, website enhancement, current software and technological advances, and ethical challenges that are encountered in an established, growing business.
Attendees will be able to:
• Update and refresh a business plan.
• Discuss business growth and development opportunities.
• Select current event management tools and technology.
• Describe basic human resources management concepts.
• Review and revise a job description.
• Respond to customer complaints and ethical issues.
This seminar earns 2 points for education and professional development. To enable full participation for all attendees, seminar is limited to 25 participants.

Saturday Night Special - BYOB (It's not What you Think) Bring Your Own Binder small group discussion of ABC points and on-on-one binder review feedback with Elise Enloe, MBC, ABC's Director of Education to help you prepare for advancement with ABC. FREE for ABC members. Those working toward upgrade to Accredited and Master Designations are encouraged to bring your binder regardless of the stage of development. Don’t have a binder yet, this is the perfect time to see examples and hear Elise Enloe give advice, information, and encouragement to those seeking upgrade.
This very informal gathering will begin in the Oak Room Lounge at The InterContinental at 6:00 p.m. It is likely we will continue the fun and conversation over dinner somewhere on the Plaza. There is no charge, and everyone will be responsible for his/her own dinner.

- Peter Merry has been helping couples create fun and entertaining wedding receptions since 1992. These seminars have been presented to wedding entertainers in over 60 cities across the United States. He has also frequently been asked to speak locally and internationally for various professional trade associations and conferences
- Michael Sull is the Founder and Director of the Master Penmen Program of the IAMPETH (International Association of Master Pennmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting). He is considered the most significant living American penman, and the foremost instructor of Spencerian Script, Ornamental Penmanship and Engrossing. In addition to teaching, Michael has authored many books and his work is often featured in Martha Stewart Weddings. Michael was recently designated the handwriting spokesperson and consultant for Zaner-Bloser, America’s premier handwriting publishing company.
- Patti Gehring is an Accredited Bridal Consultant™ with a deep and abiding passion for stationery and the etiquette with which it is associated. A self-proclaimed ‘paper snob,’ she will share her ideas for developing a lucrative stationery business and generating an additional revenue stream for consultants at any level. Patti received 'Honors' from ABC upon completion of the Etiquette Course and welcomes your questions or quandaries regarding Etiquette.
- Vernon Greene has been with Brancato Enterprises for more than 10 years. He has served in several capacities throughout his employment. These include: catering, installation crew, service and kitchen management, event sales and on-site coordination. All Seasons Tent Rental, an affiliate of Brancato Enterprises, is one of the largest equipment rental companies in the nation. Designed custom dance floor for Preston Bailey. Their constantly expanding inventory includes traditional styles as well as cutting edge equipment. Custom tents, dance floors, and room transformations are just a few of the items/services offered.

From Kansas City Airport:
Driving:
From the North Take I-35 South to Kansas City, Missouri, to the Southwest Trafficway Exit. (Or, if you are coming from I-29, follow I-29 south to I-35 South, then continue with these directions) Southwest Trafficway will be a left hand exit. Follow Southwest Trafficway south for about 8-10 minutes, and you will begin to approach the Country Club Plaza area. At the light (just past 45th Street) go left onto 47th Street. Go to the second light and turn right on Broadway (onto the bridge). Go across Brush Creek and straight through the traffic light. On your right will be a statue of a lady and three cherubs (hotel property.) Half way up the hill, turn right into hotel entrance (Lobby Level.)
From I-70 Follow I-70 to downtown Kansas City and get on I-35 South. Once on I-35 South, follow directions from the North (above.)
From the South on I-35 Follow I-35 North towards Kansas City. Take the Shawnee Mission Parkway Exit, Highway 56, heading East. Follow Shawnee Mission Parkway east for about 10-15 minutes. Once you have passed through the intersections of Rainbow Boulevard and State Line Road, you will begin to enter the Country Club Plaza area. You will come to the intersection where Shawnee Mission Parkway intersects with Ward Parkway. This is a tricky intersection, so make sure to stay in the lanes heading straight. Shawnee Mission Parkway becomes Ward Parkway. Once you have passed through this large intersection, get in the right lane. The next intersection is Wornall Road, turn right. Halfway up the hill, turn right into the driveway of the InterContinental Kansas City.
From Highway 71 North Follow Highway 71 (north bound) and exit at Swope Parkway. Turn left on Swope Parkway, which becomes Volker Boulevard, which becomes Ward Parkway. At intersection with Wornall Road (where bridge goes over Brush Creek) turn left (away from the bridge.) A statue of a lady with three cherubs will be on your right (immediately after your turn). This is hotel property. Continue halfway up the hill and turn right into hotel entrance.
From Highway 71 South Follow 71 (southbound) and exit at Swope Parkway. Turn right on Swope Parkway, which becomes Volker, which becomes Ward Parkway. Turn left at Wornall Road away from the bridge. Continue halfway up the hill and turn right into hotel entrance.
Payment - Cancellations

Cancellations more than 10 days before seminar may be transferred to another ABC seminar or refunded less a $30 administrative fee. Cancellations/no-shows less than 10 days before the seminar cannot be refunded. If paying by check, check must be received 5 days prior to the seminar. No-shows will be invoiced. If you can't prepay online or by check, we'll hold you a place, but only for ABC members. Unpaid ABC no-shows will be billed. Non-members must pre-pay and space cannot be held without pre-payment.Sorry - we've have too many pay-at-the-door registrations become "no shows - no pays." All non-reserved "walk-ins" will be accomodated on a space is available basis at $199.
